There’s nothing more exciting than moving into a new home, but before you do, there are lots of things that you’ll need to do to prepare it for move-in! In our last blog, we talked about a few of those things, so if you haven’t read it yet, check it out. Here are the last few things you’ll need to do to make your new home move-in ready:
Get the carpets professionally cleaned
If your new home has carpeting, professional cleaning is a must. Unfortunately, vacuum cleaners can’t possibly reach deep enough into the carpet to thoroughly clean it, and that carpet could be housing a whole host of nasty things.
Get familiar with the breaker box
Don’t let a blown fuse leave you in the dark! Get familiar with the breaker box so that you know which fuses control which parts of your home. If they aren’t currently labeled, do your future self a favor and label them!
Locate the main water valve
If you experience a plumbing emergency, it pays to know where the main water valve is and how to turn it off. This way, you don’t have to deal with a flood in addition to the emergency!
Get the ducts cleaned
Getting the ducts cleaned will help to improve the air quality in your new home and make the HVAC system work more efficiently.
